Goal 10: Plant a seed of Belief…30 Goals Challenge

The photo above is circa 1960.  It’s a photo of my grandparents, on my Mom’s side, Carmen and Joseph Gascon. It’s a photo that I’ve taken and edited on a wonderful photo editor that I love called Picnik.

My grandparents were an inspiration to me in my life! My grandmother who I nicknamed “Mima” when I was 5 years old, is the reason that I’m an educator and the inspiration for my blog. My hope is to write the story of her life in the coming years…to share the message of her triumph over poverty and prejudice.

Take 5 min and listen to my podcast reflection on Goal 10 produced today, via SoundCloud.

Goal: Begin to work on ways that you can bring the joy in yourself alive, and plant that seed of belief in others…share it with a colleague.

Quote: “What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail.” ~(Unknown)

Challenge: 1) Join The Teacher Mentoring Project on The EduPLN. 2) Support new teachers at Edutopia.org by responding to their questions and concerns. 3) Journal for a minute about who believed in you and planted that seed of belief that all your dreams could come true.

Oh, that was so moving! I waited till Monaday to listen to the podcast becasue that is the day I teach less and can listen to online things while ironing. I listened, ironed, and thought to myself that your grandmother might have had a life where housework would have been her main concern, without the blessed seed of belief you described.
    Thank you for sharing!

Thanks so much Naomi. I know there are many women who truly love being a homemaker and I salute them! It’s just that we each have to seek our passion and destiny. So fortunate that my grandmother found hers and shared it with me.

Fantastic and inspiring story !!! Totally agree. When we plant seeds of belief we encourage our students to go beyond their potentiality and no barriers can stop them from reaching their dreams.
Sometimes when they can’t see ahead because of their social or economical situation, teachers and schools can make the difference by letting them to find their track.
    You can do it…
